Headed by UP's sleek A-B-A set of E-9 locomotives, with six dome cars among its 15 matched passenger cars, the Special made its way from Oroville, California, to Portola and back to Keddie Wye. The train is seen at noted locations such as Williams Loop, Chandler Creek Bridge, and Spanish Trestle. A ride in the cab of E-unit #951 adds to the adventure!

Majestic Mikado
Built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1911, the "Majestic Mikado" joined the mighty Southern fleet and ran the rails for 37 years. You'll see a "fun run" of this old locomotive, on an excursion called the "Dixie Limited". Leaving Richmond, Virginia, you'll hear her sprinting for Keysville where you'll disembark and join the "Dixie Days Festival" which features jazz bands, home cooking, and handmade arts and crafts. You'll see captures the realistic detail of these painstakingly-crafted and smooth-running model railroads, complete with music, narration, and dubbed-in appropriate railroad sound effects.
Santa Fe 3751 - Return to Steam
The long-awaited return to steam power to Santa Fe rails took place in December, 1991, after 10 years of restoration effort. The 4-8-4 Northern type steam locomotive performed flawlessly on its maiden run from Los Angles, over Cajon Pass to Barstow, then around Tehachapi Loop to Bakersfield and return. This program shows the restoration story and covers this historic trip in its entirety.
Santa Fe Vintage Diesels
This is the first in a new series called the Fallen Flags Series. Based on the 8mm films of noted railroad photographer Dick Wallin, this exciting retrospective of Santa Fe's motive power covers the eastern part of the system in New Mexico, Kansas, and Illinois during the 1960s and 1970s. Southern Pacific's Central California Mainline
SP's busy San Juaquin Subdivision runs through the beautiful agricultural heartland of California's Central Valley. Southern Pacific's Geeps and Cadillacs - Vintage Workhorses
Enjoy the sights and sound of forty year old GP9, SD7 and SD9 diesel locomotives moving freight over Southern California mainlines and branches in the 1990s. Nicknamed "Geeps" and "Cadillacs", these locomotives revolutionized American railroading when they were introduced in the 1950s. Their popularity was due to their efficiency, ease of maintenance, and operational flexibility. In 1934, the Union Pacific Railroad introduced a new streamlined, high speed passenger train in a public relations tour from coast to coast. Millions of visitors toured the M-10000 and marveled at its modern design. Pentrex has carefully restored the original black and white film shot by the Union Pacific Railroad's film department and, in cooperation with the UPRR Historical Society, is proud to bring you this remarkable milestone in the evolution of American railroading. You'll see the M-10000 in action and on display. Still photos show the interior and special materials that promoted the new train. Its a rare opportunity to see railroading history unfold.
Tower 55
Perhaps the busiest interlocking tower in the western U.S., with an average of over 100 movements in a 24 hour period, was Tower 55, located in Ft. Worth, Texas. Also known as the "Mixmaster", Tower 55 utilized state of the art railroading technology until its closing in 1995. Union Pacific's Clinchfield Challenge
In November, 1992, Union Pacific Challenger steam locomotive #3985 made its first-ever trip into the Appalachian Mountains to head the 50th running of the Clinchfield Santa Claus Special. This special train, operated by former Clinchfield Railroad and successor CSX, pulls Santa Claus and his helpers as they toss candy and gifts to the children of the coal-mining towns that line the route. The 3985 underwent a name and number change for the event to become "Clinchfield 676".
