Basic Crochet is an introductory course leading the viewer through the selection of hook and thread, forming a slip loop and the proper way to hold the hook and thread for quick and easy crocheting. Also covered are chain stitch, single, double, half double and triple crochet stitch, slip stitch, shells, picot, popcorn and double treble stitch. The tape concludes with hints on counting stitches, hiding loose ends and finishing off. Instructed by Maggie Righetti.
Basic Knitting
Instructor: Maggie Righetti, School of Knitting. An introductory course for the novice, beginning with a brief history of knitting, then choosing yarn and needles, making a slip loop and casting on. Knit, purl, garter and stockinette stitch are demonstrated in the European and American methods for lefties and righties, followed by adding new yarn and concluding with binding off. Patterns included.
Basic Knitting Techniques
Covers basic and advanced techniques. Bobbie Groome, a widely traveled lecturer, has packed this program with clear, well organized instructions and scores of easy hints. Newly introduced concepts or terms are printed on-screen, including their abbreviations in "pattern language". Booklet included.
Bead Crochet
In bead crochet, beads are strung onto the crochet thread and captured into specific stitches as one crochets along. The beads can form a raised geometric design against a crocheted thread background or the beads can be strung onto the tread in a precise color patter. When the beads are worked into every stitch they form a solid beaded picture or pattern. Even if you do not know how to crochet, with a little practice you will soon be crocheting with beads. Using simple crochet stitches, you will learn how to make a bead crocheted drawstring pouch similar to styles used in the Victorian Era. You will also learn how to make a necklace or bracelet similar in style to the bead crocheted necklaces from the roaring twenties. Materials are discussed and patterns included. You will learn to make a "Chain Stitch Necklace", a "Slip Stitch Rope Necklace", a "Beaded Single Crochet" coin purse and a drawstring evening bag that combines many stitches and beads. Helpful hints, beads and a variety of stitches will inspire you for future projects.
